Tianma Microelectronics is looking to expand its already strong business in automotive displays with some new products: tandem-stack curved OLED dashboard displays, a 3D instrument cluster, and a 3D head-up display (HUD).

Tianma rolled out its newest offerings at CES 2025, where it also showed upgraded versions of its “IRIS” panoramic HUD and “InvisiVue” miniLED dashboard display technology. They also featured a variety of existing display technologies in Garmin’s “Unified Cabin” digital cockpit demonstration. The company announced a deal to supply the main touchscreen display for startup Aptera’s “Launch Edition” solar electric vehicle, which is slated to begin production later this year.

Tianma is the second-largest supplier of automotive displays behind BOE, according to research firm Sigmaintell, with 36.9 million units shipped in 2024 for a 15.9 percent global share. Like other display manufacturers, its automotive business is benefiting from strong growth in the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) market, where original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are adding new features and tightening production timelines to remain competitive. Where automotive production cycles traditionally have ranged from two to four years, Chinese EV manufacturers now are turning around new models in 18 months or less, according to Tianma executives.
